L'Ordre du jour

L’Ordre du jour is a short narrative that recounts several episodes from the run-up to and early years of the Third Reich. It revisits two turning points in particular. The first is a meeting on 20 February 1933 at which Hermann Göring asked twenty-four German industrialists, among them the heads of Krupp, Opel, Siemens and IG Farben, to fund the Nazi Party’s election campaign.

The second is the series of negotiations that led to the annexation of Austria in 1938. The book sets out to show how the greatest catastrophes often arrive in small steps.
