Tauben fliegen auf

Ildiko Kocsis narrates the story of her family, and the novel moves between German-speaking Switzerland and Vojvodina in Serbia. It opens with a summer drive back to Vojvodina in a chocolate-brown Chevrolet for a family wedding, where Ildiko checks carefully that everything at her grandmother’s is as it was. In Switzerland the family, who have run a laundry, take over a café.
