What is this book about?
The Song of Achilles retells the story of the Trojan War from the point of view of Patroclus. The son of a king, he is exiled to Phthia after accidentally killing a nobleman’s son. There he meets Achilles, son of King Peleus and the sea nymph Thetis.
The two become close friends, and Patroclus falls in love. Thetis, who thinks a low-ranking mortal an unfit companion for her son, tries to part them. The novel follows their relationship from that first meeting to the war at Troy.
