A Family Matter

A Family Matter moves between two periods about forty years apart. In the present, Heron, a divorced older man, receives a terminal cancer diagnosis and keeps to his routine, putting off telling his adult daughter, Maggie, who helps him sort through the paperwork of a lifetime. In the early 1980s, Dawn, a young wife and mother, meets Hazel at a jumble sale, and their friendship turns into a love affair. The novel traces how Maggie, Heron and Dawn were once bound together as a family, and what became of those ties.
