At fifteen, Jessica Taylor-Bearman developed the most severe form of myalgic encephalomyelitis, or M.E. Her memoir describes the years that followed, confined to a darkened room and then living in hospital, kept alive by tubes. It is drawn from the diary she kept at the time using voice-activated technology, which she nicknamed ’Bug’, and which let her pursue her ambition of becoming an author.
