What is this book about?

Due vite is Emanuele Trevi’s account of two of his friends, Rocco Carbone and Pia Pera. His friendship with Carbone begins in Rome in 1983, when Carbone is a student of literary theory, uncompromising and unshakeable in pursuit of his goals. They are soon joined by Pera, who lives in Milan but is often in the capital because of her editorial work and her knowledge of Russian language and literature. Milder in temperament, she does her best to keep the other two from quarrelling.
