His Name Is George Floyd: One Man's Life and the Struggle for Racial Justice

This biography, by the Washington Post journalists Robert Samuels and Toluse Olorunnipa, uses the life of George Floyd and his murder by a Minneapolis police officer as a lens through which to examine racism in the United States. It draws on interviews with many of Floyd’s friends, relatives and neighbours. The book reaches back to his ancestors, who were tenant farmers during Reconstruction, and covers his life as a parent, his addiction and his convictions, connecting each to wider questions of education, housing segregation, incarceration and policing.
