Il colibrì

Il colibrì tells the life of Marco Carrera, an eye doctor, which is marked by unusual events and by a series of misfortunes that strike his family. He spends much of his life in apparent stillness, with no evident aim beyond surviving the blows of fate, sustained by a platonic relationship, conducted by letter, with Luisa, a friend from his childhood. Eventually he becomes a surrogate parent to his granddaughter, Miraijin, and finds in her a reason to live.
