King and the Dragonflies

Kingston ’King’ James is twelve and lives in Louisiana. His brother, Khalid, has recently died, and King is convinced that he has come back as a dragonfly. While grieving, King has also cut himself off from his best friend, Sandy Sanders: shortly before he died, Khalid told him there was a rumour that Sandy was gay and that King should stay away from him.

Then Sandy goes missing. The novel explores the meeting point of race, gender roles and sexuality.
