Lords of Finance recounts the events that led to the Great Depression through the lives of the men who ran the central banks of the four largest economies of the time: Benjamin Strong of the New York Federal Reserve, Montagu Norman of the Bank of England, Émile Moreau of the Banque de France and Hjalmar Schacht of the Reichsbank. It follows their decisions from the First World War to the stock market crash of 1929 and its aftermath.
