Someone You Can Build a Nest In

Shesheshen is a shapeshifting monster living in an abandoned manor. Woken from hibernation by monster hunters, she is poisoned and later badly injured in a fall while fleeing. She is rescued by a woman named Homily and is smitten.

The two fall in love, although this means different things to each of them: Shesheshen’s species lays its eggs in a living host. Before Shesheshen can confess what she is, Homily reveals that she belongs to the Wulfyre family, who believe a monster has cursed them, and asks for help in hunting it down. It is John Wiswell’s debut novel.
