The Rabbit Hutch

The Rabbit Hutch is set in Vacca Vale, a fictional post-industrial city in Indiana, and most of its characters live in the low-income La Lapiniere Affordable Housing Complex. At the centre is Blandine, a highly gifted eighteen-year-old who has recently dropped out of high school and left the state’s foster care system. Other residents include Hope, a new mother, while Moses Robert Blitz is the disaffected son of a former child television star.

The novel is formally experimental and told largely in the third person. It was Tess Gunty’s debut, published in 2022.
