The Road

A father and his young son travel on foot across an ash-covered United States, some years after an unnamed catastrophe destroyed civilisation and nearly all life. The boy’s mother is dead. Knowing they cannot survive another northern winter, the father leads the boy south along back roads towards the sea, with their few possessions in knapsacks and a supermarket trolley.

He is ill with a cough. Throughout the journey he tells his son that they are the ’good guys’, who are ’carrying the fire’.
