The Stone Sky

The Stone Sky is the third volume of N. K. Jemisin’s Broken Earth series, following The Fifth Season and The Obelisk Gate.

The series is set on a supercontinent its inhabitants call the Stillness, which is repeatedly struck by geological catastrophes; every few centuries one is severe enough to set off a global volcanic winter known as a Fifth Season. Orogenes, people able to manipulate geological energy, are a feared and persecuted minority, even though their efforts have largely kept humanity alive. In this volume Essun hopes to end the Seasons for good, while her daughter Nassun, grieving and angry, sets out with her Guardian, Schaffa, for a distant city called Corepoint.
