The Weighing of the Heart

After a sudden break-up, Nick Braeburn, an Englishman in New York, takes a room with the elderly Peacock sisters in their lavish apartment on the Upper East Side. He finds himself increasingly drawn to a priceless piece of Egyptian art on their study wall, and to Lydia, a Portuguese artist who lives across the roof garden. When Nick pulls Lydia into a crime he hopes will bring them together, both begin to unravel, and each discovers that the other is not quite who they seem. It is Paul Tudor Owen’s debut novel.
