Kareem Between

Kareem is starting seventh grade badly. His best friend has moved away, he has fumbled his try-out for the football team, and because of his heritage he is told to show a new boy, a Syrian refugee, around school. The team’s star quarterback offers him a second try-out, on condition that he does something he knows is wrong.

Then his mother travels to Syria to help her family and cannot get back. This novel in verse follows a Muslim American boy caught between countries and loyalties, and deals with Islamophobia in contemporary America.
