Leurs enfants après eux

Nicolas Mathieu’s second novel draws portraits of teenagers growing up on the edges of towns in eastern France in the 1990s, as the region’s industry disappears. It continues the theme of his first book, which dealt with the effect of deindustrialisation on the working class, and turns to the generation that followed: children born at the end of the 1970s who were adolescents in the 1990s.
