What is this book about?
The novel is made up of three stories about three women, Norah, Fanta and Khady, each of whom refuses humiliation. The first takes place mainly in Dakar and draws heavily on the author’s own history: her Senegalese father left the family when she was a year old. The second is set in the Gironde in France. The third follows Khady on a migrant’s journey towards Europe.
